From the Pastor

An old hymn says, “Mercy drops round us are falling…” Scripture says that God has blessed us with “every spiritual blessing in Christ” (Ephesians 1:3). Before the world was created God chose us in Christ to be holy and blameless. We have forgiveness of sin through the blood of Christ. We have a home in heaven awaiting us. God has blessed us materially as well as spiritually. All of are struggling with increasing fuel costs and other financial pressures, but there is no doubt that we are among the most affluent folks on the earth. The Lord has also blessed us with wonderful families and a loving church family. If the Lord never did another thing for us, we could spend the rest of our days, praising him for what he has already done.

What makes worship and our walk with the Lord dynamic is seeing God at work in our lives everyday. It is not just asking for and receiving God’s blessings personally, but seeing God at work all around us. This past weekend at our family reunion, we experienced worship in a way we had never done before as we shared how God has saved the life of my nephew. We were able to pray for and encourage each other in a new way.

Tuesday, Thelma Brassell’s son, David Smith was miraculously saved from a near fatal asthma attack. Wednesday, Lisa Norris went to be with the Lord and was spared a long drawn-out time of suffering. On the same day, Ray Crosby was only slightly injured in a head-on collision. Last week we saw a very similar accident in the mountains, and it was fatal.

I started out this article thinking “mercy drops around us are falling, but the showers we plead.” As I look around, I see the showers are falling!

God bless you,
