We
look forward each year to our Homecoming Service, when a poem written by
two of our members detailing the year's events is read. It is
always a special treat to be reminded of the special times we have
shared together during the past 12 months.

Let me tell you what's happened at Marshall this year.
12 New Members we added you see-
By letter came Mary Gautreaux, Patty McCoy, Renee Norris, Emily Morrison
and Sheila Larabee
And the Angels we joined in praise and song -
When we Baptized Alisha Gautreaux, Holly Bragg, Brandon Chance, Lynn
Gingery, Brandy McCullough, Matthew Reville and Dana Long
Last Homecoming Day the message Rev. Mike Sutphin did bring -
And after a wonderful Homecoming Lunch both past and present members of
our Church did sing.
On July 25th at the Salley's our Softball Teams threw lots of
Hamburgers & Hot Dogs on the grill -
And on the 27th our Youth left for a week at Super Wow -
that's always a thrill.
T-Com '98, August 3rd-7th was our Youth Vacation
Bible School -
And on August 11th Women On Mission had a Children's Swimming
Party at Whiteoak Pool.
At a WMU Leadership Training Clinic on August 20 -
Marshall played host to leaders a plenty.
On August 21st for a Cast Party came the Children in
StarQuest -
For lots of food, fun and practice so they could do their best.
Then on August 22nd a bunch of Youth Bruce did take -
For skiing and a picnic up at the lake.
The StarQuest Musical on August 23rd was really great -
Performances by Kenan, Carol & Alee Johnson were first rate.
Mr. Bruce & Mr. Randy were really good, too -
And James, Ashley, Alisha & Dana joined in before it was through.
On September 5th the Keenagers went to the lake to eat -
They had lots of fried fish; it was really a treat.
On September 9th AWANA started for our 8th year -
To learn about Jesus & for fun and games, lots of boys and girls
were here.
Some of our teachers went to the Church Leadship Institute at Sweetwater
on September 15 -
Lots, of new and interesting ideas were seen.
On September 19th our men played a golf tournament at Three
Oaks -
We heard there were lots and lots of strokes.
On September 24th, at Mom's Day Out, Women on Mission watched
little ones -
So moms could shop, rest or have some fun.
On September 25th there was a cookout at the church for the
Married Class -
They ate steaks and had a blast.
September 30th was the night Awana Clubbers their friends did
bring -
So they could hear about Christ our King.
In order to be sure needy Children would have Christmas gifts under the
tree -
Women on Mission had their booth again at the Oliver Hardy Festival on
October Three.
On October 7th Awana Clubbers were quite a sight -
They came dressed for Animal Kingdom Night.
We had a very busy day on October 10 -
It was clean up day with lots of women and men.
And the Awana Sparks had hot dogs & ice cream for a picnic lunch -
Then there was a Nature Hike for that whole bunch.
That afternoon for Revival we met to pray -
To ask the Lord to touch hearts in a special way.
We had Roll Call in Sunday School assembly on October 11
Because we want everyone with us here and in heaven.
At our Revival, October 11th - 15th God's Word was
preached loud and clear -
On Sunday Rev. Leon Anthony was here.
On Monday & Tuesday Rev. L. H. Fowler brought the Word -
Then on Wednesday and Thursday Rev. Mason Davis we heard.
At Mom's Day Out on October 22 -
The children made crafts, played games and ate lunch, too.
On October 27th our messengers to Reedy Creek did go -
So all about the Kilpatrick Association's business we could know.
At Fall Festival on October 30th there were lots of booths
and games -
Food and fun for all who came.
November 11th was our first AWANA Store -
And on the 18th it was time for clubbers to bring their
friends once more.
Lots of oreo turkeys the children made were seen -
When Women on Mission had Mom's Day Out on November 19.
On November 22nd, at our Thanksgiving Meal -
Turkey & dressing were eaten with zeal.
At AWANA on November 25th there were lots of Turkeys running
around -
But Rick Salley was the biggest one we found.
Our Advent Services began on November 29 -
And on that night we decorated our sanctuary for Christmas time.
The Keenagers had a Christmas Party on December 5th in
Fellowship Hall -
When they exchanged gag gifts; lots of fun was had by all.
Ladies II had their Christmas Party at Shoney's on December 8 -
And on the 10th at the Men's II Christmas Party at Joyce's
the food was great.
On the 12th at the Longs the Marrieds Class party was lots of
fun -
And Women on Mission had their party at Shelby's on December 21.
At Mom's Day Out on Dec. 10 -
Women on Mission took care of little ones again.
At AWANA Nativity Night on December 16 -
Lots of characters from the Christmas Story were seen.
The Youth Christmas Outing was on the 19th of December -
And on the 20th the Choir presented a Christmas Cantata that
we'll always remember.
That day we took up our Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for Missionaries
who work on Foreign Fields -
And that night we had turkey & ham sandwiches for our Christmas
meal.
AWANA's float in the Thomson Christmas Parade that same day -
Won 1st Place as the Reason for the Season was the message it
displayed.
On December 21st the Youth to the Golden Harvest Food Bank
went -
It was hard work but was time well spent.
Our Candlelight Service on December 24 is one of the best of the year -
We have Communion and the Christmas Story we hear -
About how our Father in Heaven loved each one of us so -
He sent His Son to be born in a manger - so our Savior we could know.
To the Youth Evangelism Conference in Macon the Youth went on December
28 and 29 -
For our Youth this is always a very inspiring time.
A group met to go see the Prince of Egypt on January 2 -
Then went to eat at Ci-Ci's when it was through -
We've heard that our Keenagers really like to eat -
And breakfast at Cracker Barrel that morning was really a treat.
January 9th was Brad Pittman's & Jackie Herkell's Wedding
Day -
Bruce performed the ceremony as their vows they did say.
We had a Nursery Shower on January 24th, after church that
night -
Because we wanted to fix up our Nursery just right.
The Awana Leaders on February 5th for Pizza & inspiration
did meet -
Rick Salley, our commander, of dedication did speak.
Bruce and some of our other folks went to Augusta on February 5th
& 6th -
Disaster Relief meals they were learning to fix.
On February 12th we had a really special time -
It was the night we always honor our valentine.
This is Your Life was this year's theme -
That it was a surprise celebration for Brother Don - He never dreamed!
Because He's been our Pastor for 20 years now -
Our love for Him we wanted to show somehow!
At the WMU Spring Inspirational Meeting at Sweetwater on February 15 -
Several of our Women on Mission were seen.
Silly Slipper Night on Feb. 17th in AWANA really was fun -
There were funny feet on just about everyone.
To show appreciation to the Youth who for our Valentine Banquet
decorated, cooked and cleaned.
There was an appreciation Dinner on February 19.
To a Lynx Game on March Five -
Our Prime-Timers to Augusta did drive.
On March 6th the Keenagers did meet -
Lots of Bar-b-que they did eat.
March 20th a group went to the Atlanta Passion Play -
It always shows our Lord's Life and Death in such a meaningful way.
On March 22nd, we welcomed into the world -
Rose Marie Morrison - Emily and Farley's 2nd Baby Girl.
March 25th to a Baby Shower we brought lots of gifts of blue
-
Because soon Shelby's third little boy was due.
Some Varsity & Jr. Varsity on March 26th got to go to a
Lynx Game -
Because up with enough Awana points they all came.
March 27th was a Church-Wide Clean Up Day -
Everyone who came - came to work, not to play.
Our Easter Cantata was March 28 -
When they sang "All Hail King Jesus" our Choir sounded great.
On April 3rd Boys and Girls had lots of Easter Fun -
They had Egg Hunts, made Easter Crafts and heard the story about God's
Son.
And at the same time for some Big Boy fun -
There was another Golf Tournament - we never did hear who won.
Some of us came before break of day on Easter, April 4 -
To celebrate our Lord's Resurrection once more.
And afterwards we had breakfast cooked by the Men's Ministry -
Everyone said it sure was good.
April 5-10 Bruce and Sandra took off to cruise the Caribbean so blue -
We helped pay for their cruise for their hard work to say thank-you!
April 15, to a Bridal Shower for Elizabeth Bold we brought some nice
things -
To help her have the home of her dreams.
Early on the 17th at the Associational VBS Clinic both our
Kathy's were seen -
So we could know how to have a Great Mt. Extreme.
On the 21st Women on Mission had a Special Meal for the
winners of the Annie Armstrong Offering Contest -
Childrens III did the best!
That day was one of special joy -
It was the Birthday of Dylan Chase Spivey - Toby & Lisa's baby boy!
On Church-wide visitation on April 24 -
We went through our community door to door -
Sharing about Jesus our Lord we Love so dear -
And inviting everyone to visit with us here.
On April 25th, to share food for body and soul we invited all
our relatives, neighbors & friends around -
For our Friend Day and Dinner on the Grounds.
Before the month of April is through -
We have more Baby News for you -
We brought gifts to a Baby Shower for Cindy Anderson on April 27 -
Because soon they were expecting their special little gift from heaven.
April 30th was a wonderful day for all the Farley clan -
It was the Birthday of Jody Lyle - a very special little man.
Charlie Tudor & Elizabeth Bold on May 1st were wed -
It was a beautiful ceremony - everyone said.
At our Mother-Daughter Banquet on May 8 -
The food was good and our speaker was great.
On Mother's Day - May 9th we dedicated 9 beautiful girls and
boys -
Rosemary Brunner, Jody Farley, Megan Gautreaux, Hannah & Rose
Morrison and
Michael, Matthew, Kayla & G.B., Patti's little McCoy's.
On the 15th at AWANA Gran-Prix our clubbers had lots of fun -
Seeing whose car the fastest would run.
Kathy Sparks had her VBS Teachers to meet on May 17 -
Because she wanted to have the very best VBS ever, with Mt. Extreme.
Wednesday, the 19th, was our AWANA Awards Day -
Congratulations to our hard working clubbers to say.
We awarded lots of ribbons, trophies, plaques and pins -
Next year we can't wait to do it again!
Before we're finished with this part here -
We want to congratulate Dana Long, Clubber of the Year!
Then at the shower on May 25th for Emily Morrison -
We brought lots and lots of Diapers and things for her little one.
At the AWANA Carnival & Auction on the 26th Clubbers
spent lots of bucks galore -
There was golf, computer portraits, water games and lots of things to
buy in the store.
On the 28th & 29th Varsity & Jr. Varsity
Clubbers with enough points got to go -
On a White Water Adventure - that was lots of fun we know.
On May 30th 10 of our Youth we did congratulate -
Because from High School they were going to graduate.
John and Cindy Anderson had a great day June 1 -
Now Rachael McKenzie had joined their sweet little sons.
June 2nd, Youth started to "Go to the Rock" -
Their summer Bible Study each Wednesday at 6:30 o'clock.
At the School's Out Party on that same night -
Children played water games & had ice cream - All Right!
Bring 'Em Back Alive Youth Outreach did begin -
On June 3rd, Youth spent time contacting and inviting their
friends.
June 5th, guess what . . . at a Picnic our Keenagers met to
eat -
And the next day on the 6th a Gideon did speak.
That night at an after Church Youth Fellowship at the Salley's pool
everyone had fun we know -
Except maybe Ashton Cozart, who broke her toe.
On Wednesday, June 9 and 16, at two VBS Enrollment Nights -
The good things to eat and fun games were out of sight.
A gift of book marks was the way -
We recognized Father's on June 20th their Special Day.
That night to new heights with Jesus we started to Climb -
At VBS on June 20-25, everyone had a really good time.
They studied about Jesus, played games and made crafts -
Ate delicious meals, sang songs and with Bubba had lots of laughs.
Then on the 25th on Family Night -
The Mt. Extreme Musical was out of sight.
As up the mountain they climbed - Carol, James, Dana, Lynn & Anna
told Kenan
about the ABC's of Salvation's Plan
And Mr. Bruce was Dakota Jones and Mr. Henry - the poor tired Pizza Man.
On July 3rd, Keenagers went to see Fireworks and you guessed
it - to eat -
Supper at Golden Corral was really a treat.
With this year we're almost done -
At Fellowships on June 27 & July 11 our youth had fun.
July 12 was a really fun day -
9 Youth and 2 Adults went to Six-Flags to play.
Then the Youth got down to work on July 13 through 16 -
As they came each night for their Vacation Bible School - Vertical
Extreme.
But before their week of VBS was through -
They met yesterday for one last session and to picnic and canoe.
Thanks to everyone who came yesterday to clean, cut and mow -
And make our Buildings and Grounds look just so.
Today is the last time Renee our Pianist will play -
To her there is something we want to say -
We'll miss your talents, your smile and cute little Allen too -
It's been such a blessing to fellowship with you!
